Motorcyclist 34 killed in Navan road crash

first_imgA 34-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist has become the 132nd person to die on Irish roads this year.The man was fatally injured when his motorbike hit a wall on the Windtown to Ratholdran Road in Navan at about 4.35pm today.He was taken by ambulance to Our Lady’s Hospital in the town, where he was pronounced dead.The road remains closed pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.An appeal for witnesses has been issued by local gardaí and anyone with information is asked to contact 046 903 6100.The number of deaths on Irish roads is up this year when compared to 2012 statistics. This time last year, 111 collisions had claimed 119 lives. The corresponding figures for this year show that 132 people have died in 123 crashes.
