Amy Winehouse To Be Resurrected As A Hologram For New 2019 Tour

first_imgIn 2019, Amy Winehouse will once again “take the stage,” joining a number of other high-profile deceased performers who have recently received the hologram treatment. The hologram notice marks another recent major project okayed by the Amy Winehouse Estate, as news broke this week that Winehouse’s family has approved a new biopic on the late songstress produced by Monumental Pictures’ Alison Owen (Lily Allen’s mother) and Debra Hayward with Winehouse’s parents serving as the film’s executive producers.Amy Winehouse, who succumbed to her ongoing substance-abuse battle the age of 27 in 2011, rose to fame in the early 2000s, winning critical and popular acclaim for the two albums she released before her death: 2003’s Frank and 2006’s Back To Black. The two albums catapulted her into worldwide success, and Back To Black netted the singer five Grammys (including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year) in 2008, tying the record for most wins by any female artist in a single year at that time. For this upcoming tour, the hologram of Amy Winehouse will be backed by a full live band. The hologram will be produced by Los Angeles-based hologram company, BASE Hologram. BASE Hologram and the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a tribute organization that raises money for alcohol and drug abuse prevention, will partner to produce the tour. As Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse, noted in a statement, “Our daughter’s music touched the lives of millions of people and it means everything that her legacy will continue in this innovative and groundbreaking way.” Tickets for the tour have not yet been released.
