Crime prevention officer at Henry St Garda Station Sgt Brian Broderick said retailers should advise staff to keep an eye out for the suspicious notes. ”One note was successfully tendered at a cafe on March 19 and a second unsuccessful attempt was made a short time later at the same cafe. The culprits were both in their mid to late 20’s and it is likely that the forged notes will be tendered in other shops and businesses in the coming weeks,” he said. The forged notes can be detected by the use of ultra violet lights or pens.
