Avery died this week at his home in La Habra. He was 84 years old. Avery was superintendent for 16 years before his retirement in 1997. He began his career as a teacher in the late 1950’s. Avery is survived by his wife, Nadine, and two children, Michael Avery, 50, and Janeal Williams, 47, as well as by three grandchildren.
